THE VILLAGE COUNCIL GRINCH

THE VILLAGE COUNCIL GRINCH:

Carolyn Kelly Voted To Deprive Village Employees Of Christmas Bonuses!

At the December 2, 2025 Village Council meeting the annual approval of Christmas bonuses for Village employees came up for a vote.  The bonuses were approved by all Council members except Carolyn Kelly.  She voted “no”.  Why would she vote to deprive our Village employees of their annual Christmas bonuses?  All of them, without exception, deserve it.

It’s certainly not that she’s worried about the budget – she has gone along with all of Bill Lewis’ tax money wasting follies.   Passed experience by Council members that have served with her might suggest an answer.  Only Carolyn Kelly knows for sure.

It could be that she has behaved badly toward one or more of the Village’s employees and one or more of them put her in her place. Trustees that have served with her experienced conflicts directly with her and tried to manage the conflicts she created with Village employees in the past.

It got so bad that the other Council members asked her to resign in December 2023.  She refused.  So, she was removed from the chairmanship of the “Water Committee” and cautioned not to talk with Village employees.

There have been hints of this at Council meetings where she appeared to be at odds with the Village Treasurer just as she was with the former Village Treasurer Brenda Borden.  Brenda Borden got so fed up with Carolyn Kelly’s behavior that she threatened to quit if she had to deal with Kelly any further.

Carolyn Kelly’s seat is up for election in November 2026.  She should be roundly rejected if she runs again.  Anyone else would be an improvement.

A reminder about our Village employees.  As this is written a little after eight on Sunday morning, the men of our Department of Public Works are out clearing our roads of the snow that has accumulated overnight.  Because the snow continues to fall, they will have more to do this day.

These men, TJ Gibson, Jeff Oswalt, and Lucas Piper, serve us well.  They keep public spaces presentable and the water flowing to our homes.  Linda Coburn and Sydney Cope, our Village Clerk and Village Treasurer respectively, are stellar individuals.  They do the administrative work that keeps the Village organized and functioning.

These people deserve our respect, gratitude, and the 2% Christmas bonus each will receive again this year in spite of Carolyn Kelly.
