WHAT DO YOU CALL SPENDING MORE TO COLLECT A DEBT THAN THE AMOUNT OF THE DEBT?
As Village president, Bill Lewis has been a tsunami of bad judgment bordering on contempt for the people of the Village that pay the bills with their tax money. Right out of the chute he has been an expensive disaster for the residents and property owners of the Village. Much of his ill-conceived governance has been reported on this site. BUT WAIT! THERE’S MORE!
Lewis has, so far, spent approximately $2,700 of our tax money on attorney’s fees to recover $2,580 that was the code enforcement debt for the cleanup of the property at 115 Watson St., commonly known as the Moore property. That’s just through July. Lewis has spent several hundred dollars more on attorney’s fees in August, the amount of which is not yet known to the public.
There may be blowback. If so, Lewis will spend several hundred, perhaps thousands more because of his poor judgment in handling the matter.
